Current KJ4HDR base station

Receiver: homemade 144.8 MHz FM donated by fmax.it IQ8SQH (144 to 10.7 to 0.455; -101db squelched to -89db)



(backup: Yaesu FT-23R donated by Giosuè B.), on 144.8 MHz FM

Modem: MicroModem MDMRC24B in KISS mode

Antenna: 1/2 wave, 36m above sea level

Beaconing: currently disabled

Server: running on a fanless Stylistic ST5022D motherboard, Pentium M @ 1.1GHz, 1Gb RAM, 250Gb disk, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Location: JN70FR

Software: APRS-FAP based Perl script and Ruby server/parser/forwarder (GPL sources available on gitlab)

Internet: on-demand UMTS connection

Note: only radio collected data packets - this is not a service like aprs.fi.

Resources and examples

  • 300+ stations in a day (if the antenna is placed high enough!)
